Writing101; Day 8: Reinvent the Letter Format

Dear Grandpa,

Today is Veterans Day and I can’t help but to think of you. You served this country with the hopes of a better future for it, and of course, for your own family. For that, I thank you.

I’ve read and re-read the letters you sent to Grandma while you were away from her and I could feel through your words how much you loved her and how much you missed being so far. You were her true love, her soul mate and she always talked about you.

I have all your medals, photos, and letters, even your yearbooks from when you were a child. I share them with my children and they will share them with theirs. We will forever speak about your courage and your love, your adorable smile, and the way you made Grandma feel.

Please know, that even though there are fewer of us here now to remember you, you will never be forgotten.

I love you,

Jessica
